I found Tango Hogar from this website. I emailed the owners, Oscar and Norma. They, including their son Manuel, have been very helpful to me right from the begining of my stay. My luggage just came yesterday, 4 days after my arrival. During those four days they made several telephone calls to the airport and waited for the answer, and were so happy when I got my luggage. They have made me feel like home. As a single woman travelling alone the first time to Buenos Aires, I donīt feel unsecure, perhaps mainly because of Tango Hogar. Everyday they go over the schedule of classes and milongas and advice me where would be best to go. They accompany me to the milongas the first evening, and later when their schedule allows (they dance Tango). They are always there when I need some advise or information.
The location is great to go anywhere. It takes me 30 minutes to walk to downtown. I even take the subway to class and back, although I have read somewhere that woman should not take subways after 8 pm. I visited Buenos Aires before with a friend. So far I have not seen any problem on the street (watch out when you walk on the sidewalk, since people do not pick up after their dogs).
If you do not look for a fancy place, Tango Hogar is a good idea: very warm and friendly people who you can trust!

Andrea
